I believe patience and versatility are very important, as each student learns a different way. I set goals for each lesson and try to guide the student during the lesson into achieving them. Sometimes the goals are achieved during the lesson, and sometimes while practicing on hteir own time. I taught at the Boston Conservatory extension program when it existed. I went to japan and saw Suzuki as part of my training for teaching the Suzuki method. I belong to ASTA and SAA , SMS and AFM I've had students playing in the suzuki festivals. Students I've taught are now having excellent careers as professional musicians. I am a cellist and recent graduate of the New England Conservatory in Boston. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Virginia Tech, where I developed passions for chamber and contemporary classical music. I brought these interest to Boston, and have performed throughout New England in chamber music series, conductorless ensembles, and orchestras. While studying at NEC, I was also a musical storytelling fellow, and developed multiple programs of original songs and stories to perform at elementary schools and children's venues throughout the city. I recently began registration with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and am in the process of becoming a Suzuki certified teacher for Book 1. I find the Suzuki method extremely helpful for starting young students, however I also like to use other resources such as the Essential Elements book for beginners. I also want to focus heavily on note reading and sight reading at a younger age, so students have a solid foundation if and when they become members of orchestras or other ensembles. Read More

I have exceptional experience in teaching little children learning their first instruments to upper grade students who are serious about studying music in college.
