I'm a dedicated cellist and collaborative musician. Through my training, I have been fortunate to work with a number of inspiring mentors and teachers. Also, I don't like to force my students to play anything that they don't like, I will definitely communicate with my students about their goal of learning music, and then I will make a best learning plan for the individuals. I am a cellist and recent graduate of the New England Conservatory in Boston. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Virginia Tech, where I developed passions for chamber and contemporary classical music. I brought these interest to Boston, and have performed throughout New England in chamber music series, conductorless ensembles, and orchestras. While studying at NEC, I was also a musical storytelling fellow, and developed multiple programs of original songs and stories to perform at elementary schools and children's venues throughout the city. As an avid chamber musician and collaborator, I have enjoyed playing and performing in a variety of chamber ensembles for 12 years, and I have been awarded scholarships to attend chamber music festivals such as the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Summit Music Festival. Currently, I am completing my Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance with Laurence Lesser at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA, and I am actively teaching and performing around the Greater Boston area. For beginning students I start with the Suzuki cello books, and teach books 1 to 5. I reinforce the Suzuki with pop/ non-classical songs, depending on the student's interest. After Suzuki 5, which is well into the intermediate level, I introduce individual works (small concerto's, sonatas, etc.) and cater them towards the student's ability and interest. For younger or beginner students, I reinforce the Suzuki books with sight-reading, and as they progress, I add in etude studies.  Read More

Through my time working with students I have found that it is very important to get to know them on a more personal level, i.e. music they like, their interests, their hobbies etc, and that way I can tailor my lesson plans to them as individuals and make them feel as comfotable as possible. I have varied experience relating teaching, whether it comes from teaching directly or other musical experiences. My earliest teaching experiences were mentorship programs in my local youth symphonies as a high schooler, and since then I've taught in afterschool programs, received my Suzuki Book 1 certification, and taught ear training in a classroom setting. Through my experience in teaching and chamber music, I really try to curtail expectations and goals to a student's individual wants from music making, so that students can feel proportionally challenged and confident to the amount of time they'd like to put in.
