I started my private instruction practice during my high school years, where I would teach friends and students from my school. Through my musical career, I have taught students from age 6 to age 65. For me, each student presents a new challenge to find when it comes to what he/she wants to learn. Each student also has different approaches to learning. I started playing bass at 11, playing in rock bands with friends. We gained a lot of experience performing in those days. I extended to guitar shortly after bass and began practicing other styles and improvising. Around age 16 I started getting into jazz and that is when I started to get serious about music. Every student works at their own pace and I allow for a lot of flexibility in my lessons. However, once the student has communicated their long term goals for the guitar, realistic goals are set between each lesson. I assign projects to work on between each lessons usually a mix of technical practice, such as left hand and right hand techniques, and musical works the student is interested in.
