I have a Bachelors of Music from New England Conservatory and a Masters of Music at Berklee College of Music's Global Jazz Institute. I am regularly performing in a wide variety of settings from jazz to avant-garde to hip hop and anything in between. Again this can be likened to an athlete who no longer trains. Also like an athlete this is something that does get easier the more you do it. That being said it requires less of a time commitment than many may think. One of the goals with my students is going to be to find entertaining ways to build that consistency. We'll make practice a game. A challenge to overcome, or a boss to beat. Read More

Adult students can opt to go to the next book in the series (Book II and III of the 'modern' piano course). For String students I am comfortable in the 'Essential Elements' series, 'String Builder' series and 'All for Strings' methods as an excellent base with which to start. For Guitar Students I am a fan of 'Alfred's Basic Guitar Method' Books 1-3. For Bass guitar students I prefer 'Mel Bay's Bass Guitar Method. Read More

My teaching style is heavily student focused: By listening to my student's voice and choice, I want to work together to create musical goals for them that we can develop as we progress. While I believe in creating a learning environment focused on intrinsic motivation, I hope my positive attitude and love for music can serve as a source of inspiration for my students! The most important aspect of any lesson is the joy that we bring to it, which is crucial to us developing musical skills and beautiful music. Read More

Hello! My name is Eric Eaton and I am a professional cellist living in Brooklyn NY. I started playing cello at the age of 10 and instantly fell in love with the world of music. From an early age I was taught to love and appreciate music from all over the world and that has been something I'm very passionate about passing on to my students. My training was primarily in Classical Music specializing in solo and chamber playing. Read More

I gravitate towards the Essential Elements for Strings books for beginner students because the books so effortlessly combine the first steps of cello playing with basic concepts of music theory and history. I then use a combination of cello duets, etudes (like Dotzauer and S.Lee), and method books (Feuillard) for technical studies. I always incorporate traditional music for the cello (like Bach Cello Suites, famous cello concertos), but work with students on whatever music they enjoy. Read More

Instruments: Cello

For all of my students I try to encourage good basic technique and practicing scales and etudes. I believe in a healthy mix of technique and artistic expression. I also try to help students use their bodies in the most efficient way possible. I help students to create good habits and work to fix bad habits. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
