My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons 25 years ago. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. We will learn and explore the capabilities of the very large instrument by studying literature and repertoire that helped develop the instrument into what it is today. I want the students to understand how their instrument works by demystifying the mechanics. It's important that students advance at an appropriate pace - I don't want students to end up wasting their money, their time, and my time.
