I grew up with classical music playing violin since the age of 4 and then changed instrument to saxophone at the age of 12. I studied jazz and saxophone at The Rhytmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and The New School of Music in New York. I also play trumpet, guitar, bass, piano, drums, and more. I also write for symphony orchestra and produce electronic music. With my band O Future I have been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph, ID, V, Q, NPR, Interview Mag, Pitchfork and hundreds of others. Read More

I find a balanced approach to studying technique, sight reading, theory and the students favorite songs to be the best recipe for keeping motivated and engaged. Beginning students will use Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method (Book 1) to get into the basics of these elements down, while learning basic voicings of the most common chords that will allow them to dive into playing some of their favorite songs almost immediately. Lessons for more advanced students will be tailored to their individual needs, and can cover anything from improvising, to songwriting to learning complicated solos and advanced guitar techniques. Because of the nature of the bass in musical settings, my approach to teaching is one I consider "wholistic". That means that in conjunction with developing fundamental technique and building repertoire etc., lessons will involve listening to songs and discusing elements such as groove and instrumental tone. I believe that the study of music should be fun. Because of this, I like to get a feel of what music my students enjoy no matter the age or skill level, that way I can custom fit the material of an individual's lesson to get the best results. I won the orchestral composition award for Rutgers Annual Orchestra Day in June of 2016 and was ranked in the top percentile of the Marvin Hamlisch film scoring competition on a global level, which was judged by Oscar- winning composer Mychael Danna. I have interned at Sandblast Productions, Creative Group and The National Chorale where I did several things ranging from scoring commercials to assisting with live camera concert directors and stagehand sound design. I provide a broad understanding of the instrument, with years of study to back it up, taking a conceptual, theoretical, technical and applicable approach, while stimulating the most important aspect: creativity. I get to the root of what the student needs to know eliminating excess, in order to speed up the learning process. Nothing originates from a strictly academic place, so I promote a natural free flowing environment, catered to the uniqueness of the individual in order to encourage study and inspire innovation. My love for music started at the age of 7 when my mom enrolled me in a piano lesson. I continuously played the piano and there was a point that I also studied the organ to be able to play as an organist in our church. When I was in high school, my interest shifted towards guitar because of the surge of battle of the bands and I luckily became part of our high school band as a lead guitarist. Read More

My methods are geared toward the individual. Oftentimes I might start with a methods book for a beginner, but supplement it with musical choices by the individual. In selecting these choices, I find ways to simplify the music so that the student is able to be able to play it. My method is also based on questions that the student might ask. So while we will have an approach that is organized and structured, I find that addressing seemingly unrelated musical questions, can actually be incorporated into the tasks at hand. Read More
