I've been teaching independently since the start of the new year and have since acquired a few students. I took a years of music courses at my local university and I am currently seeking my Bachelors in Music Production. Additionally I have been playing both guitar and bass for over 10 years. Though I am primarily a guitar and bass player, I am also an experienced electronic music producer and recording artist. Read More

I first began teaching music lessons as a way to earn extra money for college and I have been teaching ever since. I have been mostly a freelance teacher, but I have substitute taught many times at Musical Beginnings in Vancouver, Washington. My first instrument is drums, though I have also been playing and teaching guitar and ukulele for a long time. In church settings I have often had the opportunity to help younger and less experienced musicians find their place in the praise band or worship team and to learn how to play music as a part of a group. I began teaching five years ago while attending Lewis Clark college, giving lessons for free and for trade among the students. Since then, I have given many lessons to students, friends, fans, and to my 8-year-old little sister. I love teaching both children and adults, and I am a patient and courteous instructor. I have experience teaching a variety of musical styles, and each lesson will be tailored to the specific student's particular musical passion. Read More

I like the aphorism by British guitarist and educator Robert Fripp "We begin where we are". It means to me that at any given point we are all beginners. So if we come with an open mind to explore and learn something new, perhaps what it could be challenging might become easier if we apply the right mind set. So if we are learning a scale...perhaps we begin with a note at the time, then add a second and third, so on, until we have all eight notes or sixteen. - Slow down: If you want to play fast you gotta be able to play it slowly with accuracy and precision. I am a relaxed and easy-going teacher. I am good at staying focused but also fun to be around! I know that learning to play an instrument carries a unique set of challenges for each person, and these can be frustrating. Because I've experienced these challenges myself, my primary goal is to be there for my students, guiding them through the difficult moments as well as the joyful. I care about the student's progress more than sticking to a pre-determined rule book. Read More

I have taught in one-on-one lessons, large group rehearsals, and everywhere in between. I started my teaching with a group of peers and professors while studying my undergraduate Music Education degree. We worked as a group to teach children ages six through 16 how to play violin/cello and perform as group. We then held a large concert as well as performed with the Sacramento Philharmonic at a Link Up concert. Read More
