I have been teaching guitar as a primary occupation since 2006. I have been a professional musician (performer and songwriter) since 2001. I have taught at music studios in NJ (Dan's Music Studio, The Music Center in Chatham, Howell Music) and now teach privately in-home, at my studio, and online. I currently have a roster of over 40 students, and am extremely passionate about teaching music from beginners to advanced students, from kids to adults. Read More

I base my students' curriculum on their individual needs and interests. I strongly believe in learning fundamentals and the principals of music through scales, music theory, ear training, and reading music notation. I believe it is equally important for students to develop their own musical interests and goals so that we can apply all of the practiced skills in a fun and meaningful way. An example of this would is if a student wanted to learn a Beatles song I would have the student learn the chords and melody, but also the associated major/minor scale that song uses and develop an exercise that would be helpful towards learning the song. Working for a local drum teacher in 2005, I started teaching private music lessons in students' homes. From there, I took up residence at a local music store where I taught guitar, ukulele, bass, harmonica, songwriting, and music theory for the next fifteen years. During the pandemic, I added teaching virtually to my repertoire and have fallen in love with it. Personally, I started playing music because I loved exploring and learning more about the music I I was already listening to--and I desperately wanted to learn how I could create my own sounds. I wouldn't be able to play in the Big Band I'm in right now if I didn't know how to sight read music, and read it well! However, many musical pursuits don't require the ability to read music at all. For instance, I am in 2 bands right now that I don't have to read a note. I just learn the song and go out and play it! However, in my experience, simple memorization of a tune won't get you very far. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
