From there, Classically-focused players would learn solo repertoire, Jazz-focused players would learn standards and improvisation, and all the other genres would begin to narrow down their appropriate fields. There will be a balance between musical concepts and repertoire. The deeper we go in learning the song and learning the recording, the more the student will benefit.
