I have developed a method for guitar students of all ages to quickly learn chords and scales so that they can not only learn the chord progression to songs, they can also find the correct scale to "solo" and improvise over them. Once the chord structure and scale are learned I accompany the student, playing along with them so that they can practice playing with another musician and soloing. With the Suzuki Method the students learn to play the instrument first, and to read music second, removing the obstacle of reading notation until the students learns some technique on the guitar. I have also taught students of varying ages using traditional teaching methods. I like to pace the lessons based on each individual student. For beginning students we start with the basics, how to hold a pick, how to tune your guitar and basic fretting technique. From there we go into the basic fundamentals of chords and scales.
