My teaching style is based on having fun and enjoying music. I work with my students to set goals and reach them. I use my song based approach to encourage my students because one of the main reasons one picks up an instrument is to be able to recreate the music they love most. By doing this I can cater to my students' needs and desires as musicians. Read More

I am a passionate musician and fully certified instructor who always looks for and sees the best in everyone around me. I am in three bands of various genres and I found over time that enforcing learning music through having fun with it is the most effective way to learn! Nobody wants to learn something if it becomes boring or a chore, so I always find ways to keep learning interesting. Read More

I approach music education in a practical way, what I mean with this is that I teach songs that my students like so they enjoy what they are learning. I encourage them to listen different kinds of music too so they can understand what music really is about. For Beginners and Intermediate students, I teach them songs that the want to learn and then I relate this songs to music theory, I teach them how to practice and how to learn technical parts of the instruments from the songs that they like. For beginning students I begin by talking to them about music and what songs they like. We start clapping along and picking out what the drums are doing and eventually begin playing along. A wonderfully laid out book for beginners that are interested in pop music is "The Funky Primer." I also like to teach the reading of rhythms out of a book by Ted Reed called "Syncopation for the Modern Drummer." This is a great book that you can work out of for many many years to come. Read More

Because of music I have met people from all walks of life and that has helped me to become a more loving and compassionate person. Lessons should be a safe, fun and encouraging space for students to grow not only as musicians but as people. Read More
