I've been teaching in the NYC area for the past 5+ years and during that time I've developed my pedagogy as well as my playing. I always am sure to point out the simple rule. During our lesson I am showing you how to play, the real work is done on their own time. I tell them that 15 minutes every day is better than an hour 1 day a week. Playing every day ensures that the material is always fresh in their head and they don't lose interest. Read More

Although I have my own methods and "prescribed" teaching materials, I love to keep a dialogue with the student. I always ask what their goals with music are, as I will then tailor the lessons accordingly. Or, I've had students who want to learn how to play a specific style or song, and those lessons can be much more mellow. Read More

I definitely believe in realistic goals and I think one of the most important things during learning is that my students properly know what they have to do to be prepare for the next lessons and to achieve the current goal! I also really encourage my students in having a daily and enjoayble instrument practice. I am sure that doing at least 30 minutes technique exercises every day is the best way to feel comfortable with our instrument quickly. Read More

I thoroughly enjoy making my own curriculums based on each student's unique learning style. I do combine elements of other books or methods I've seen or learned myself too though, and am open to working through any books that the student themself finds interesting. Normally for beginner musicians, I like to take them through the basics of reading sheet music, as that has been a cornerstone to my learning as well. Read More
