My passion for teaching is borne out of a love for connecting with others, fostering curiosity, and sharing my love of music. I hold a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory, which I earned in 2006, and I studied with jazz guitar great Paul Wingo for several years after that. I have studied with some of the finest classical guitarists in the world, including Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Roland Dyens, Ray Chester, William Feasley, and many others. Read More

For Piano I teach from the Faber Faber series. I used Primer and level 1 one for children and a level 1 version for late teens and adults. For Guitar/Bass I use Hal Leonard Guitar Method Series. For all my students I determine what they are interested in learning and we focus on that music while still practicing the fundamentals. Read More

I have several tools that I use to get students playing music.  One of my favorite tools is the Music Flashcards made by Bastien.  Rather than teaching notes using an acronym like "every good boy deserves fudge" to teach notes, I use landmarks which get students to see the relationship between notes and allow them to read music with fluidity and ease.  I pair these flashcards with Music Tree book 1 and feel that they compliment each other very well. My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I need and expect my students to practice at least 15 minutes of per day, more if possible. This will enable me to not have to review previous lessons too much and we can move through more material quicker. Read More

I'm a dedicated and experienced guitar instructor who has worked with students of many different ages and skill levels. Over the past 20 years, I have performed, recorded and toured with several noteworthy regional and national recording artists, while also furthering my education along the way.  Although I have had some incredible experiences as a performing musician, my biggest passion is sharing my musical knowledge with others. I have had the pleasure of helping countless guitarists become better at their craft through my teaching, and welcome students from any background to contact me about scheduling lessons. Read More

It is very excited working with someone who is enthusiastic about music making. One way to achieve this kind of enthusiasm, and really cultivate a sense of joy in a musician’s playing, is to set specific and attainable goals for a student’s technique and musicianship. As a teacher, I demonstrate this enthusiasm and focus as much as possible during the lesson, with the hopes that the student will keep it going during the week and build upon it for the next lesson! It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
