While achievement is important to me, I believe that developing long-term skills is a far more significant. I prefer to emphasize skill-building and retention, and always want to make sure the student is enjoying the process. I prefer to set realistic short- and long-term goals for students at each lesson, and acknowledge their accomplishments with a system of rewards. Additionally, at the end of each year, I encourage my students' participation in a studio-wide voluntary recital, which is intended to showcase their growth and development over the course of the year as well as afford them an opportunity to perform in public. I am an active, professional flautist, having earned a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Flute Performance. I was lucky to have had a rich experience in my life, to have worked with and taught a diverse group of people all over the world. I have moved numerous times between different continents both as a flute teacher and performer. In addition to teaching in the public schools, Mr. Jesse W. has been playing guitar and bass professionally in the local funk band Tha Funkahol-x, and has performed for audiences with George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. In undergraduate school, he studied composition and arrangement with Ricky Ford, internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist, at Brandeis, and performed in the Brandeis Jazz Ensemble under his direction. I am a energetic advocate of the arts. Music saved my life, and I will continue to show anyone that it can save them too. I have experience working with a multitude of populations. I have experience in music performance, music therapy, and music education. I have performed for many hospice patients, individuals in the aging population, people of many ranges of disabilities, different churches over the east coast, theaters across Maryland, and children of many backgrounds and ages.
