I pride myself in my ability to create unique, individual lesson plans for my students. First, the student and I will have a consultation to discuss the specific goals and aspirations they have for their voice. After this discussion, we will create goals accordingly. Examples of materials we will examine are breath management, tone production, diction, enunciation, articulation, acting, speaking, theory and history. I have a passion for music. I started on the piano when I was seven years old and I've never looked back. After spending years in grade school, junior high and high school learning and performing in the band program on trumpet and euphonium, I moved on to play euphonium in The Most Exciting Band in the Land, the Ohio University Marching 110! I do not believe in a 'monkey see monkey do' style where I simply show the student and have them repeat the concept or technique, but rather a discovery learning approach where I provide the needed support for the student to learn and apply the concepts. One of the things I love most is the shock of parents and students who expect that either they themselves are going to dread the lessons or practice session or that their child will give up and hate practicing. Parents and students tell me how exciting they are to come each week and hit each milestone. I make learning fun! Simple as that.
