Overview:
I have a passion for music. I started on the piano when I was seven years old and I've never looked back. After spending years in grade school, junior high and high school learning and performing in the band program on trumpet and euphonium, I moved on to play euphonium in The Most Exciting Band in the Land, the Ohio University Marching 110! In the Marching 110 I played in front of thousands of people at Ohio University's Peden Stadium and at professional football games in Cincinnati and Buffalo.  After finishing college I taught myself to play bass guitar and guitar and I began writing my own music and performing those songs with various bands. It has become one of the great joys of my life to help students find in themselves the same passion, love and enjoyment that I have for music.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching piano and voice to young people in my church nearly fifteen years ago.  Since that time, I have worked with a conservatory and on my own bringing the joy of music to dozens of students of all ages. I offer recitals several times a year to help each student reach new goals.
METHODS USED
With beginners (children and adults alike) I like to start with the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures method books. I tailor each student's learning experience, creating an individual path to success. I stress the fundamentals of music (learning to read music, proper physical technique, etc.) in an engaging and fun manner.
LESSON STYLE
Music should be fun. If it isn't fun, why do it? Music is art, not machinery, and I believe lesson time should be the perfect blend of work and fun. It takes work to achieve new skill levels in music, but it takes joy, love and fun to make the work worth it! I help guide students to achieve new goals by encouraging and always pointing to the positive (because to me negative reinforcement just doesn't work).

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
