For piano I prefer the Faber series. I like to include scales, sight-reading, and repertoire of the students choosing and of my suggestion. For Voice I like to cover the anatomical fundamentals (posture, breath, phonation, and depending on age), in the first lesson, and each lesson includes a warm-up as well as at least one piece of repertoire of the students choosing. I have furthered my training in Austria (Mozarteum International Summer Academy), Italy (Amalfi Music Festival, Music Academy International), and the States (SongFest, OperaWorks Winter Intensive, Miami Music Festival). I prefer to do half-hour lessons for beginners and young musicians. After more lessons can be prepared, forty-five minute or hour long lessons are more appropriate. For trumpet students, I rely heavily on the Arban method for the essentials and then add other materials depending on the student's goals.
