Celeste is a composer and singer; performing on piano, bowed psaltery and harmonium, she is a Celtic performer and educator of the highest technical caliber. Over the last four years, I have tutored many music students in sight singing, keyboarding, and French. I have prrviously assisted children in the Fairfield County Children's Choir with sight reading notes, rehearsing rhythms, and helping with diction and pronunciation.
Music is such a wonderful and powerful thing that has always belonged to me, my whole life. I grew up with strong classical music background. I started piano when I was 2 years old, learning from my mother who is also a musician. I was interested in singing from my pre-k year and started to enjoy performing on the stage to share my musical talent. For my undergraduate degree, I got accepted as a vocal performance major at The Boston Conservatoy but from my third year, I was more passionating and interested in composition, so I changed to major and graduated in 2013. Currently, I am earning my last year of Master's degree in composition at The Mannes College The New School for Music, teaching private voice & piano lessons, Organist/Pianist at church, and I will be graduating in May and starting my proffessional study from the fall season.
Utilizing the philosophy of experiential education, I encourage my students to explore music through their own personal experiences. Understanding the experience we have with music in our everyday lives, allows us to personally connect with the music and sounds that speak to us, while aslo nurturing creativity and curiousity within our instrument. My purpose is to not only teach the technical aspects of the instrument but also develop a deeper and more personal connection to music.
I approach each subject with a very holistic, meditative approach. In voice, I teach my students to communicate with their bodies to make the best sound possible. I make sure we understand the anatomy of WHY sound comes, as we work on getting some of it out. In piano and theory, I make sure to communicate at the level of my student. I never "teach in the dark" as to confuse you with new and large concepts, but rather explain ahead of time, and fill in the blanks as we go along. Its proven to be the most effective way!

Adult voice lessons do more than teach you how to sing better. They also prepare you for performances, auditions, and competitions. Voice instructors in Musika's network have successfully taught and prepared students to audition for The Voice, American Idol, X-Factor, and other reality singing shows. Add your name to the list of success stories when you take voice lessons. Choose whichever genre you want, then allow instructors to help you choose the songs that are best for your voice. Voice lessons also teach you how to control your voice, perfect your breathing, and care for your vocal cords. Expand your singing ability and prepare for events when you take adult voice lessons.
Keeping your voice healthy starts with keeping your entire body healthy. Eating a balanced diet, getting adequate sleep, and reducing stress are all keys to keeping your body, and voice, healthy. Singers should avoid excess caffeine, smoking, consumption of alcohol and drugs. Excessive screaming, speaking or singing for long periods of time, and performing in loud or crowded places without proper amplification should be avoided. Singers should always stay hydrated by drinking purified water, and try to stay away from sugary drinks and colas.
The teachers in our network create a customized lesson plan for every student, so no two students' lesson plans will be identical. Topics covered during Musika's voice lessons may include, but are not limited to: proper breath control technique, how to support your voice, how to read music, how to interpret various styles of singing (classical, jazz, pop, etc.), performance tips and techniques, how to overcome stage fright, and most importantly, learning to enjoy music and express yourself through singing!
Does your child want to audition for a local musical show or national reality singing competition? He or she should wait until after puberty to take voice lessons. At that time, the voice is more mature and the risk of vocal cord damage or strain is limited. Puberty typically occurs when kids are between 11 and 12 years old. By waiting until your child is that age, you protect the voice. You also provide your child with a better chance of success during auditions and performances your child wants to participate in.
Voice lessons in your home offer a convenient and practical way to master the art of singing. Voice lessons in your home require a piano or keyboard so that the teacher can use that to conduct your lessons. Whether you want to learn classical voice, jazz, pop, or musical theatre styles, the instructors in our network can provide you instruction on songs that suit your voice best.

Ted S. is teaching clarinet to one of my children, and piano to two others. He is extremely knowledgeable, and very encouraging. His teaching methods are keeping my children enthused about their lessons, and without that, you have nothing. Two of my children were taking piano lesson from another teacher for the past year, and not progressing. Ted has been able to evaluate their skills individually, determine what was missing in their music education, and begin again with some early basics they seem to have missed. I am convinced we are finally moving forward, and am very happy about that. I wish I would have made this change much earlier.

I've been taking lessons from Michael once a week for eight weeks now, and with his help I have made dramatic improvements with my sax. Michael is a funny, nice, patient and all around great instructor. I'd recommend Michael, as an instructor, to anyone who wants to improve their skills and have fun while doing it.

"My daughter is 10 years old and has been taking piano lessons with Mr. Dale J. for almost 4 years now. She is progressing nicely. His kind and gentle way make for a very positive learning experience. Mr. Dale J. is encouraging without being harsh or belittling. He is patient and the ideal instructor for my daughter."

My daughter has been taking piano lessons through her school district program for the last two years. She had learned a lot in that class but I noticed that she needed advanced classes at this point. After reviewing several websites I decided to enroll my daughter for the trial at MUSIKA. We got Mrs. Veronica B., and I am more than happy we got her as my daughter's teacher. Mrs. Veronica B. was very professional and very knowledgeable at the trial day. She was able to assess my daughter skill's level, and then she was able to give suggestions about how to improve those skills. My daughter has taken 5 classes with Mrs. Barker, and I can see she enjoys each class and she's improved a lot since day one. I can picture my daughter playing her favorites songs on the piano very soon!!! :-)

Noel is amazing. She is helping me to work toward my vocal goals for auditions to several musical theaters. She has helped me choose strong audition pieces and is teaching excellent ways to get the sound I need in a safe and healthy way. She works outside our lessons on new warm ups and new music pieces. She is the best.

I am in my 60s and decided to get back into playing my guitar. I thought taking lessons would be a good way to formalize the endeavor. I did have some concern about whether working with a teacher would work out as I've behave only played for my own enjoyment for a long time. Peter and I have had a few lessons together and I am truly enjoying the experience. He is very supportive and flexible. We arrived at a three gold approach that is really working for me. We focus on developing a playlist, learning some of the more iconic tunes from leading artist that I would have a hard time learning on my own and developing some technical skills related to style and music theory. Now I look forward to my next lesson and am already playing better and enjoying the journey. Peter is a great teacher I'm lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

I would like to thank Polina for the series of classical piano lessons I've taken recently. Polina is a fantastic teacher and a high class performer, and I'm really happy I had a chance to meet her! I believe anyone can benefit from the teaching method Polina is practicing regardless of the student proficiency - from beginners to advanced performers. It was a pleasure for me to study classical piano courses under the guidance of such an intelligent & professional teacher! Without doubt, my playing technique has improved a lot and I have signed up for the new classes online already.

Martina has been a great teacher. Our son is 8 and had taken some piano lessons before starting with Martina. She came right in and got him to improve. She does a great job of giving him just enough of a challenge to make him work and learn but not any pieces that are so overwhelming he can't get them. She has helped him through a lot of early music theory so that he not only can play the piano but understands the music he is reading in all of its complexity.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
