I try to customize my teaching style based on what I observe each student needs. Some are visual learnings, in which case I do lots of demonstrating on my own violin. Other students respond very well to imagery, and listening to their own imagination/instincts. Some students need more systemic discipline, others require more freedom and nurturing. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a basic book like Fiddle Magic by Sally O'Reilly. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will move on to the Suzuki Books. Along with teaching from the Suzuki Book, I will supplement their learning with an etude book such as Wohlfahrt and Kreutzer. After a certain point, I will start working on pieces and concertos not in the Suzuki books anymore. Read More

New notes and concepts would be introduced through learning familiar songs and pieces. All parents are encouraged to attend their child's violin lessons so that they can aid practice sessions.
