I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds. Voice Lessons: I start my lessons with vocal warmups and excercises to help strengthen and develop a students vocal abilities. After vocalizing, I begin working on the repertoire that I have assigned the prior week. The songs that each student will sing will depend on what style he/she may be interested in performing or studying. I always choose age appropriate material, and a piece that the student will enjoy. In fact, the opposite is true. The classical technique I teach helps the singer develop full control of his or her voice. I think every person has a unique learning style and I love to develop new ways to teach concepts to my students. I welcome students of all ages from five years and up. My teaching experience began over 20 years ago when I taught voice lessons to several of the choir students at Choctaw High School. I am passionate about music and about helping find the unique approach for each student. Music Theory is the language of music and I focus a portion of each lesson learning that language. I think it is important to incorporate both classical repertoire and music that is of specific interest to the student. Read More
