I'm a very optimistic person. I like to inspire my students, and watch them have fun and grow! Lessons should be a fun thing to look forward to. As a kid, I had many lessons and teachers that I did not enjoy going to, and I don't want that to be the case for my lessons. Learning a new musical skill is fun, and really fulfilling, and I want my students to feel that way when they work with me. Read More

My experience as a voice teacher dates back to 1995. I was invited to teach several Masterclasses over the course of twenty years. The invitations came from institutions such as: The Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, The Guildhall School of Music (London), The Cleveland Institute of Music, The Royal College of Music (London) and The Royal Conservatory of The Hague. I began teaching private lessons in my home studio in 2008 and in September of that year I was invited to join the music faculty at Oundle School, UK. Read More

I start off all beginning students by teaching them the fundamentals of singing. If students have taken lessons in the past, I work on reviewing fundamental concepts with them. When a student first begins lessons, I typically spend more time on helping to build the student's technique than on repertoire, and as the student progresses, I split the lesson more equally between the two components. For beginning students, I always start by learning the notes on the staff that corresponds with their specific instrument. Knowledge and confidence of this is crucial to the learning process. Next, I pick a method book to work through to learn the fundamentals. For trombone, I use Rubank's "Elementary Method." It is a great progressive studies that has great explanations, exercises, etudes, duets, mini-solos, scales studies, and more for young students. Read More

I have been told by my students that am as much a coach as I am an instructor. I make lessons fun and informative. I am always respectful and understand that students progress at different speeds. After 3 months with me students can expect to have better pitch, better breath control and more confidence all round. I use my own curriculum and record each student to CD. This means the student can take the lesson home and continue the learning process there. Read More
