As for vocal lessons, I'll figure out a student's vocal range and voice type, then ask them the kind of songs they want to sing, and why they want to sing them. If the student has vocal experience, I can help them expand their repertoire whether it be for theater auditions, choir tryouts, school group auditions, college prep, or just for fun! The material doesn't matter to me vocally. I want the student to sing what they want to sing since it's such a personal experience to create music using the body. Read More

I began teaching toward the end of my graduate studies at Georgia State University where I received my Master of Music degree. Teaching provides me with an opportunity to share my love of music with those who want to learn to become better vocalists. I'm classically trained, but I grew up singing Gospel and listening to R&B and Pop music. I love being on stage, and have experience performing in Opera, Musicals, as wells as solo performances. Music is embedded in my bloodline. My mother is a powerhouse singer and that is who I get it from. I grew up in church singing and playing the clarinet all throughout grade school. I went to Virginia State University and joined the Gospel Chorale and toured all over Europe! I also appeared on the hit television show Americas Got Talent with the Choir! Since graduating I released several projects and have performed all over the U.S! Read More

I encourage the individual to find what they love about what they're doing to spark growth and personal development. I use real world scenarios and applications for my students to relate and apply their learning through the playing of their instrument. From my pedagogical teachings ive learned that the best approach is a differentiated one. One that is diverse yet unique to the learner and/ or group of learners. I use a linguistic and analytical yet methodological approach to teaching that I find to be VERY Efficient! Read More

I have no expectations of my students until they show me what they're capable of. After our first two lessons, I start to really stress the importance of practicing on their own time as well. Singing is part muscle memory and your muscles can't memorize what they aren't consistently doing! I use a very kinesthetic approach to my teaching in that I focus on how the entire body feels when my student is singing the correct way versus how it feels when they are singing incorrectly (unhealthily). My teaching experience began during my college years, as I commenced providing private lessons on a part-time basis eight years ago. For the past five years, I have been devoted to teaching students in my home studio. I emphasize the importance of regular practice on a consistent schedule, particularly for younger students, as this approach significantly contributes to their progress and fosters a passion for the instrument. I have also observed that incorporating a mix of classical and contemporary music greatly enhances students' enjoyment of the piano, thereby motivating them to practice and continue their learning journey. My teaching experience goes back to my high school days, where I began to teach private lessons part time ten years ago. Since then, I have been consistently been teaching students in private studios. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule and motivate my students on a daily basis. I also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoying playing instruments. Read More
