I began teaching youth choirs right after graduating High School. With excellent instruction, I began a more studied teaching approach through my pedigogy class at Central Michigan University. Also, I helped my fellow classmates prepare for their performances. I am beginning to teach privately after continuing my vocal study with a Vocal Coach in the Detroit area. I have my Bachelor of Music in Voice with a focus in Music Education/Choral Conducting, and a Master of Music in Voice Performance. During these degrees, I studied vocal pedagogy extensively and began my private studio. I fully believe in the philosophy of hard work. Helping someone learn how to open up their voice and sing is a joyful experience. Every lesson includes a warm-up for the voice and a series of breathing and vocal exercises. that build skills and technique. The time spent on each part of the lesson varies from student to student to help them make progress. I have been teaching since 1998. I love making music fun for my students, while requiring students to learn fundamentals such as music theory and vocal health. Teaching has been part of my life for over 17 years and I hope to continue for at least that many more. I believe music is for everybody and that each individual can improve and learn if they care and make an honest effort.
