Since 2011, during the summers, I was an employee for the New York Summer Music Festival or NYSMF for short. I started at NYSMF as a counselor and music theory teacher and I later earned a position as TA and Commercial Voice-Over Teacher. The festival is a wonderful place that hosts 11 to 21 year olds at SUNY Oneonta for 2-week session jampacked with ensemble rehearsal, solo and ensemble performances, guest artist concerts, classes, faculty/staff or student showcases, masterclasses and so much more. I began teaching youth choirs right after graduating High School. With excellent instruction, I began a more studied teaching approach through my pedigogy class at Central Michigan University. Also, I helped my fellow classmates prepare for their performances. I am beginning to teach privately after continuing my vocal study with a Vocal Coach in the Detroit area. Practice doesn't make perfect, but it does make progress! I ensure that my students continue to sing in the most healthy and easy way for them. Read More

My teaching style is focus to develop my student's own artistic personality. I always remind my students the importance of growing as a musician using your unique perception of music. That is what makes every student special. In addition, I combine, not just different music styles, but also, different types of art. The understanding of the relationship of music with another arts and history is as important to me as the technique itself. Read More

I teach beginning students both by rote and through reading. We use standard Suzuki books for repertoire and method books such as Wohlfahrt, Mazaz, and Sevcik. Very young students begin on Sassmanshaus since it is very engaging as well as well written. However if there is a specific book a student wants to learn from (such as a book from school or a specific style such as country or fiddle) then I am more than willing to teach from that. Read More

By beginning with gentle exercises and warm-ups, we can establish the student's vocal abilities and range, allowing me to create a curriculum around each individual student that ensures that will be creating music in a healthy way.
