I approach teaching like nursing a baby ,u care for the baby,u feed the baby when hungry,u cover the babies body from catching cold , you teach the baby how to eat ,u hug the baby when he or she start crying, when she wants to go put her hand in the fire u stop her and tell her in advance what she’s going to experience.when she’s 18 you start to tell her to set goals and always drive hard to achieve them ,you tell her to never give up and be distracted by boys, you’d tell to always keep learning in life because the day you stop learning you start dying. It's important to me that students enjoy what they are singing--if they don't, they won't be motivated, are less likely to practice, and they won't progress as quickly. Still, I believe students should sing a variety of literature (and may even find something they didn't know they enjoyed), and regularly start beginning students with some simple Italian art songs. Students in my studio are exposed to art songs, folk songs, opera arias, and showtunes. Read More

I really want to focus on what students want to become. It is really important to me to see a student develop a passion of music. With that everyone learns at their own pace so I want to be able to help them learn at their pace. Something I also think is important is I cannot teach everything in one session. If the student is wanting to learn and grow then they have to take on practicing on their own. Read More

What technique do I use? Nowadays it is fashionable to use the name of a technique as if that was everything. I like to see singing from another point of view, based on the full awareness of the vocal tract. Learn to control the muscles involved in phonation (and relax those who do not!). Achieve a control that allows us to make the sound that we like, in a healthy and pleasant way. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Students are able to select their own music and share their interests with me. Read More

For most students on piano, I typically use the Faber series to learn technique and theory simultaneously. It’s important to be able to gain that knowledge of theory early to help students be more independent. For adults on piano, we would work together to find repertoire to fit their skill level and interest to keep things engaging and relevant. Voice is much more individualized since every instrument is unique. Read More

Once there, I used Utah as a base to extend my music repertoire. Having performed with several different Utah groups, including the Weber State orchestras, wind ensemble, and jazz band, Chamber Orchestra Ogden, and others, in 2016, I became an arranger and performing member of the High West Music ensemble. In the fall of 2016, I accepted a teaching position with The Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps in Salt Lake City, UT where I taught both brass and visual. Read More
