I like to promote a positive and encouraging atmosphere, whilst also providing constructive feedback during lessons. If there is something a student is having difficulty with, I look at various ways in which we can work to improve the situation. I like to keep lessons fun and engaging but am also very passionate and serious about singing, so my style is a healthy mix between the two. My lessons start with breathing exercises, scales and vocal exercises and then we focus on song repertoire and performance skills. Read More

I'm fairly flexible, laid back in my teaching style, and always passionate about helping those who need it. At the same time, I also encourage discipline and consistency in practicing and making improvements.  I always try to keep each student learning at least one new thing for each lesson, while allowing him or her to make steady and consistent progress without getting stuck in a rut.  I always encourage steady and consistent practice throughout the week to further individual progress and get closer to desired results. I have my special teaching method "PPP" which refers to "Passionate, Personal and Professional". "Passionate" - I believe that music should help people find the beauty and happiness in their lives; "Personal" - Teaching should be very personal! Everyone has a different background and we are all unique! I always custom lesson plans for each of my students and we could discuss about your personal plan; "Professional" - No matter if you are learning music for fun or you have a goal in pursuing music as a career, I would always teach and help the students to improve the musicianships under the professional standard. I lead some group lessons at "Group Expression" in Shanghai; working with non native English speakers. The skills learned as an English teacher have helped immensily with communicating with students on how to better approach their singing. I like to use the IPA chart to break down words in any language which helps immensly when talking to students regardless of native tounge. Read More
