My teaching style is to move comfortably and systematically: I introduce a concept, the student attempts it, I offer corrections if needed and lots of affirmation. I also make adjustments according to the student's learning style. It's important to me to convey how and why things work--*why* are we playing these chords, *what colors* do these particular notes add, etc.--so that the student can eventually go on to play their favorite songs with greater appreciation, and if they are interested in songwriting, eventually write their own songs more effectively. For beginners I usually begin with Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone and Fundamental Studies for Snare Drum by Garwood Whaley. Once the student has a good grasp on basic reading and technique, I usually introduce rudiments and start working on solo or play along repertoire. After graduating from Hofstra University in 2014, I have had the opportunity to work in regional theatre and recording in and out of NY. I am currently an EMC working towards getting my Actors Equity union membership. I have the honor of having Broadway star Robert Cuccioli as a musical theatre acting coach, as well as renowned musical theatre coach Stephen Purdy.
