Most recently Ihave been teaching studentsin the Riverview area while studying for my bachelors degreefor thepast 3 years. By trying to find out what inspires each student, I can customize their instruction to help develop a passion for their instrument. Nothing is more rewarding to see a student enjoy and become a confident musician! I allow each student to move at their own pace, but always challenging them so they do not become bored. I choose the books according to my assessment of the student during the introductory lesson. The Faber Method is one of the more popular ones. I also use the Alfred All-in-One books series. As supplemental material, I use Keynote Speller by Shaum and Line a Day by Keith Snell.  For solo repertoire, I select methods based on the skills and favorite pieces of each student. At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I however will now focus on solely fundamentals and will try to include in songs that the student would like to learn as long as it is in the bounds of reality, the lessons I provide are only part of the equation and the real work is what is put in after the lesson.
