My goal as a teacher is to show students the joys of singing and playing music, while instructing them how to be technically proficient and vocally healthy. Through the process, I encourage singers to appreciate what their strengths are and to recognize their weaknesses as challenges. I like to focus on one technical issue at a time, building upon the current strengths without overwhelming the singers. I will teach finger techniques. In the lesson, I will always start with Beyer scales and then do some pieces according to students’ level. I belive music is the universal language. It doesnt matter what type of music you play, the theory is all the same. When you learn a song, the theory should be learned as well. I like to give scales and a practical theory lesson each week, then transcribe a song for the student to learn that relates to the weeks lesson. Then at the end of each week's lesson, we will practice impovisation with the scales, theory and song learned from the week before. Read More
