Music had always been a passion of mine since I was a child. I began voice lessons at the age of 14, and in high school began to train with Mr. Lawrence Lohman. Mr. Lohman conducted the Kingston High School Choir, as well as taught voice classes. Through his teaching, I was able to develop my voice. Nothing makes me happier than having the opportunity to share my love of music and guitar. Upon graduating from Skidmore College in 2000, I was accepted to Florida State University to the classical guitar program under the study of Bruce Holzman. I feel my decision to simultaneously work towards two masters degrees speaks clearly for my motivation and passion towards music. For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. For my violin students, I usually stick with the Suzuki Method, or Essential Elements books, if they are in the more beginning stages. Read More

Music should not be boring or intimidating, so I teach to my students' personalities and their comfort levels. I will ask my students to try rigorous exercizes but I will do so in a manner that is fun and rewarding, not exhausting. I am currently fourth year senior Music Education major student at Western Connecticut State University who will be earning a B.S. Music Education in May 2019. I am currently a classical voice student in my studies, but serve as the accompanist for the Western Connecticut State University Concert Chorale. I believe that all students are able to carry their dreams out to the fullest as long as they put a little hard work and dedication.
