I generally start with a Q & A to get a feel for the artist and what their true intent is, then I go for the kill. I need to know the who, what, where, when and why of the music industry in their own words. The how part is what we will work on together to achieve the goal. Pen and Pad has always been tradition when writing a song, but I recommend some app to where your created work is automatically dated. Read More

I have been teaching private lessons for 15 years and have loved every minute of it! I began just teaching piano instruction when I first started out, but as I went through college, I added voice to my instructional practices. I really encourage my students to take my 20 minute challenge: 20 minutes a day for 5 days. That equals 100 minutes a practice a week and will cause you as the student to see AMAZING results in your skill and proficiency. Read More

The material I teach covers scales, chords, and music theory. We can practice a variety of exercises that help improve your rhythm and dexterity. As I firmly believe in the power of music and singing, I like to create levels of success for the student that are individual and specific to that student. I know that each student progresses differently so after a lesson or two, we will create goals specific to that student. I enjoy getting feedback from the student as well as allowing them to share their goals and aspirations for their voice. Read More

One of the things I love most is the shock of parents and students who expect that either they themselves are going to dread the lessons or practice session or that their child will give up and hate practicing. Parents and students tell me how exciting they are to come each week and hit each milestone. I make learning fun! Simple as that. I have had so many students over the years who are so nervous and timid about playing or singing and by the time we get to the first recital, they are confident and light up on the stage. Read More

My teaching began in the late 1990's as professional musician in the United States Marine Corps teaching new Marine Musicians how to double & triple tongue and play minor scales as well as Greek Modes.I enjoyed the challenge of teaching someone a skill or technique. My reward is watching the lightbulb come on and them master the new skill.   I have played professionally for over 15 years and taught flautists during this time. Read More
