My teaching started in my undergrad, about 5 years ago when I was required to take a Vocal Pedagogy class as part of my major. From there I fell in love with teaching. I was able to expand on my love as a substitute teacher at Rabun Gap Academy in Rabun Gap Georgia in 2012. There I taught five girls ranging from 8-15. I continued that until 2014, I then took on two colleagues, a girl who was 24 at the time and a guy who was 19 and taught them for a year. Read More

Typically I start off gaining some insight into my students. Who do they look up to, the type of music they're into, what genres they want to improve in, etc... After gathering that information I ask them to sing a song that they enjoy or that means something to them. Based off of that I've gathered a substantial amount of information about their voice and their preferences to develop a curriculum/course outline for them. Read More

My teaching style encourages the student to have fun, be expressive, and get curious about music. I keep things very simple in my lessons. It is very. important in lessons to acknowledge the student's accomplishments so that they are aware of where they are growing. Read More

Shortly after I graduated from University, I was asked to start lecturing. I began with a few principal studies students, and soon I was asked to conduct and direct the Jazz Department's Vocal Ensemble. My student list grew, as did my contribution to one of the top Universities for contemporary music in Australia. I developed curriculum for voice students, became an examiner, directed small jazz ensembles, world music ensembles, vocal masterclasses and once I had graduated with a Master of Philosophy, I began thesis supervision for Honours and Masters students.
