I began teaching music lessons at Lewis Music in downtown Kissimmee, Florida in 2004. In the years that have followed I have had students from 5-90 years old and from every background imaginable. Each student is unique so I have learned to adapt to each students goals and preferences. I am happy to teach songwriting, digital music production, and music theory to my most advanced students, and it fills me with joy to hear the songs they write or perform! Read More

I began my teaching career about 7 years ago, during my senior year of high school. I have taught lessons for both piano and guitar consistently since that time, including my time as the Piano Instructor at Cadenza Academy in Portland, OR. I like to let the students navigate the material they learn, as I feel that they should have complete control of what they are focusing their money and time on. Read More

I believe that every student is different, and that is important to understand each student’s passions and interests. It is important to find out how each student learns, and to motivate him or her to improve, grow, and be passionate about music. I do not want to only teach the notes on the page; I want to instill a lifelong love of music and a basic knowledge of music theory. Learning the goals and aspirations of each of my students is very important to me, as I know that performing music should be about joy and self expression. Read More

I like to use a wide variety of materials, from classical to jazz music. CLARINET: For clarinet students, I use "standard" conservatory etude and scale books (such as the Rose Studies and Behrmann Studies). I also use the Jamey Abersold Jazz Methods, which feature CD 'play-a-long' recordings of jazz music. I also have my students perform a wide range of solo music, from 'standards' like the Mozart Clarinet Concerto to 20th century repertoire by composers like Bernstein, Copland and others. I think it is important for students to be able to play jazz and improvise, so I teach them about Blues and how to play jazz, as well as classical music. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.. Read More

My philosophy for quality music education has three main parts: appreciation, practice, literacy. I braid all three of these parts into each lesson, with a student focused approach. I strongly believe that anyone at any age and abilities can learn enjoy making music. Fundamentals are important at all skill levels, as well as a mix of solo rep and working on full pieces I have the skills to be able to create any music my students want to do! Read More
