I'm a passionate and motivated musician who loves giving my students the tools necessary for success in a wide variety of musical genres. In 2015, I graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. Performing in a number of church groups, choirs, operas, and musicals have been enjoyable experiences in my collegiate and professional career as a musician over the last 12 years. Not only do I teach students how to play or create music, but also how to successfully set goals and achieve them. Every musician should have a goal in mind when practicing. Learning how to manage that goal can be tricky. I like to work together with students to take their goals and break them down smaller into more manageable pieces for them to master. I encourage students to focus on their personal expression and growth as a musician. While I select pieces for students based on their skill level and ability to take challenges effectively, students are given the freedom to browse their own musical library or lexicon to perform music they enjoy or is moving to them. Since many modern songs can be found without sheet music or proper notation for each instrument, I arrange pieces and songs for students' instruments as close to the recorded version as possible. In most of my lessons, I use one of several piano methods, which I supplement with additional materials, chosen according to the student's musical preferences and goals. My preferred courses for beginning students are Alfred, Faber and Bastien. I always include music theory, as it is fundamental to appreciating and understanding the music, and it allows students to learn the basics of improvisation. Ever since a child, I've loved learning, music and sharing my passions! Through grade school I grew into the role of a leader and a musical/visual artist. In 2018 I graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelors in K-12 Music Education with a minor in Spanish. My years of teaching grade school has reaffirmed my passion for teaching, and drive to be the best teacher I can.
