I'm an up and coming singer-actor who was classically trained at the university level. I continued my classical training under the tutelage of a graduate of Philadelphia's world renown Academy of Vocal Arts and long-time performer of the Metropolitan Opera. I also like to do rhythm exercises with my younger students for example I will clap a rhythm and have them clap it back to me. I will assign repertoire that is appropriate for their level. An example of this could be the little mermaid song 'Part of Your World'. If I am teaching an intermediate student I will do warm ups up and down the octaves on vowels e-eh-ah-oh-ooh, I will also do staccato exercises as well as teaching breathing techniques. Read More

Based on a child's interest and personal voice, I recommend pieces of music varying from musical theatre, 28 Italian Songs, Schirmer's Book of Solos, and Hal Leonard's Standard Literature. In our lessons, I teach students to warm up with the proper technique, and so that they may warm themselves up when practicing. For younger students, I believe learning basic music theory is a great foundation for understanding music and will overall help your musicality. Scales and warmups are extremely important in a new student as well, as they develop your voice and breathing in order to sing more challenging material in the future. In a first lesson I identify something that is special and unique about each student, and build their technique from this place.
