I have over 12 years teaching experience both piano and voice to students of all levels and ages. When I work with a student, my first goal is to establish a positive, open dialogue where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying new techniques or styles, and stepping outside of their comfort zone. From there, I prioritize developing a healthy technique in both singing and playing piano, emphasize musical literacy where we regularly work on reading notes on a modern staff notation (with all the accompanying vocabulary), and explore a wide range of repertoire that speaks to the student. It's important to identify the natural transitions throughout a student's voice, usually based on classical technique for healthy sound production. We will be able to reconcile the voice with the music that the student is interested in singing, all styles are welcome! Later, as a violist, I was a founding member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra "Raimundo Pereira" (One of the Orchestras of "The Sistema") in Venezuela. I studied lyrical and popular song with Masters William Alvarado and Inés Feo La Cruz. I have two records production, the first, named Por el Medio Oriente, it is a musical project that fuses the sounds and rhythms prevalent in Middle Eastern music and culture and the second named Preludio y Coda, a romantic CD. As a guitar teacher, I like to start with getting the student accustomed with each string, including how to tune a guitar and how to play different notes on each string. Next, I start teaching chords by starting with E minor and then moving as little as possible with the fingers so the student can understand the relation between certain chords. Nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing one of my students develop a practice and passion for music! I encourage student's by setting realistic goals at each stage. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
