I graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre. Over the past 5 years I have had 7 beginner piano students and 10 voice students of varying levels. I have taught ages 5-10 for piano and 11-20 for voice. My teaching experience began when I was in grad school, where I taught a few students at a local high school. Since moving to the KC area eight years ago, I have been consistently teaching and gradually building my private studio, which now has over 20 students! I love working with young singers (specifically grades 8-12) and helping them find the potential in their voices.  I have encountered the full range of ability levels, from very experienced (had lessons before, sung multiple solos in school choir, had lead roles in musicals, etc.) to complete novice (no lessons, no choir experience).  My overall approach to lessons is the same, regardless of ability level: consistent improvement from week to week using vocal exercises, songs, and an exploration of breath and the physicality of singing. In my studio, the most important thing when structuring lessons is to make them individualized. No two lessons look the same in my studio. If a student wants to work on composing, that will be the focus. If the student wants to work on sight-reading, we'll focus on that. Of course, it's important to be a well-rounded musician, but these lessons are for the students' benefit, not mine, so I'll make sure they leave their lessons with what they want to gain. Read More

I work with each student to figure out why they're taking voice lessons and figure out accomplishments that they want to achieve.
