Another technique I specialize in that I share with students who are interested is self-accompaniment skills. Singing and playing piano is an essential part of my artistry so I believe I can share some of the tricks I've picked up over the years. Students who want to learn how to accompany themselves on piano while they sing will learn how to view the piano and voice one instrument and balance their attention to both. Read More

With a student centered learning theory, my hope is that my students will become life-long music learners who hold a passion for the love and joy that music can bring to our everyday lives. The learning does not stop when the lesson ends! As a passionate and encouraging individual, I help my students to gain an appreciation for practicing rather than making it a chore. With such busy life-styles Americans hold, I understand that practice everyday is not always feasible. Read More

Although I may be fairly new to formal teaching, my experience working in groups and sessions has taught me an incredible amount about humility and teamwork. As long as I inspire and touch the lives of my students, I will feel rewarded as well. Read More

I will start new students, especially young students, with folk songs, games and exercises to train the ear, sense of rhythm, and acting muscles, prepare them to be able to read and understand musical notation, and encouragement to perform in a solo capacity when possible. As students progress in skill and expertise, we will begin learning songs with notation, continue developing sight reading and aural skills, introduce more challenging repertoire and foreign languages, deepen technical vocabulary and understanding, and prepare for audition opportunities. The goal is to build a fearless, fun-loving, and mature student of the arts who is confident in his or her ability. I have developed specific techniques to deal with performance anxiety, physical limitations, and common musical challenges. Read More

After my undergraduate was completed, I began working at a franchised music eduction school for a year and a half. I had 20 students ranging from keyboard, drums, vocals, and I also was a Show Director for the various shows put on each season. This experience was invaluable as I refined the way I should handle lessons one-on-one as well as how to manage a group. I try to instill the drive and discipline that any musician can benefit from.
