This is to ensure that the baseline technique is there as they find how their instrument, the voice, is growing into their developing selves. I've been teaching on and off for the last few years. I started teaching privately in my senior year of high school with a rather small number of students. I would help fellow students or neighbors with preparing for NYSSMA, auditions, and upcoming shows. I assisted in directing the annual summer musical at North Shore Day Camp as the head voice coach from 2011 - 2014. I try to encourage the students to practice without being told to do so. With that comes a joy of doing it on your own and for themselves not for anyone else. I loved the experience from the start - few things are more rewarding than watching a student develop their musical passion and skill from lesson to lesson.
