Students who are young beginners, I like to start with Hal Leonard's My First Piano. It's written for ages 5 and 6 full of excitement and imagination. Once the student has completed the C level of this book, or if I feel as though they are ready for the next level sooner than expected, we will move on to solo repertoire. As a student, I would dread the idea of a boring practice, therefore as a teacher, I do all I can to make lessons engaging and useful. I believe that music should be approached holistically and with an open mind rather than trying to force one method to work for everyone, so I strive to tailor my methods according to the needs of each of my students. While I am happy to help set some basic goals and will assign work to do outside of our lessons, I believe that long term goals are our own. I am passionate about giving back to this art form that has given so much to me. I specialize in classical voice and have recently finished my education. I have experience singing professionally in operatic productions, as a soloist in concerts and recitals, in choirs and churches. I have also enjoyed singing in smaller venues for children and senior citizens. I love to travel, and singing has given me the opportunity to travel to Germany, France, England, and several areas in the United States. Read More
