However, many of my students work in the pop realm. I apply a classical vocal methodology to pop technique so that students can make active vocal decisions in a stylized environment based on genre. My piano lessons are structured similarly starting with warmups/exercises depending on the student's skill level and technique we are learning. This can include different things like playing scales, or other finger exercises to develop dexterity in technique. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I began teaching voice and piano lessons in grad school and have been teaching for the past 5 years. I love sharing my passion for the voice as an instrument, and I feel that a strong foundation of music theory and keyboard skills is a must for vocalists. I enjoy incorporating all of these skills into lessons. I've also found that no matter what style and genre of music interests you there is a primary fundamental healthy technique as the foundation for all of them, and I find it ver exciting and thrilling to develop the skills needed to unlock this vocal freedom! Ive been teaching voice for over 5 years. My students ages range from 10 to 80 and they are In different levels and have different goals/interests. Although Im classically trained and I have many students following a classical path, using the bel canto technique, Im able to provide the student with tools to sing any genre, and for that I use a Cross Training technique, which embraces classical and vernacular styles, such as pop, rock, musical theater, Brazilian music (like samba and bossa nova). For my piano students depending on the age we start working on familiarizing the student with the instrument and we also choose a book that is appropriate for age and interests. For some students I use Faber, Bastien or Alfred. Read More

I want my students to enjoy their music lessons, I don't want it to feel like a chore. It can be really fulfilling when I see a student playing or singing something with joy! I pay close attention to what exercises students seem to want to spend the most time on and the ones they get frustrated with. This helps me balance the lesson by breaking things up and putting them in an appropriate order so the student will stay engaged. Read More

I have had over 20 years of teaching experience in voice and guitar. In addition to my private teaching practice, I've taught at The Little Red School House in Manhattan as well as the Groove Academy in Edison, NJ. Although I have had the opportunity to teach to classes in the past, I much prefer one on one teaching. I feel that the student gains so much more by individualized lessons and can improve so much more quickly. Read More
