I like to set attainable, yet challenging goals for each student. Ensuring that each student progresses at his or her own pace will encourage the development of a love for music. I try to acknoweldge a student's progress in order to inspire a desire to keep learning. Each lesson includes some technical exercises, a theory component, and other components pertinent to the specific instrument. My teaching experience dates back to high school. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music. I started to teach privately in June 2012, teaching both voice and early piano. I teach students out of their homes, or a space of their choice. I have mostly worked out of their local schools or churches. I encourage and emphasize regular practice on a consistent schedule. I encourage hard work, but also fun when practicing, and during lessons to help maintain a student's growth and interest.
