As for my experience, I have been playing guitar for 15 years, teaching for 5 years, and active in bands for 7 years. I was privileged to receive private guitar lessons myself for a decade. Also, I have a solid amount of experience with audio recording, mixing, and microphone techniques for amplifying instruments. As far as teaching credentials go, I have not earned any official documents from any institution. However, I am attending The Ohio State University with plans to graduate at the end of this year with a minor in music. Read More

For all students, I begin with classical fundamentals such as body alignment, breath support, and resonance and moving to topics including diction, vocal health, interpretation, and stage presence. I will work with the student to find repertoire that will best fit their voice, help achieve their musical goals, and be aligned with what they enjoy musically. I would love to find opportunities for students to perform their repertoire and show what they have learned whether that is a private recital for family and friends or a voice competition. Read More

My experience with teaching started after my departure from Full Sail University. I enrolled there for online class to learn Audio Engineering and Music Business. As I was learning, I was also teaching the same information to fellow artist and friends that I was working with at the time. Some had the same knowledge as I did and I re-paraphrased information, to those that did not I educates to enhance, enlighten and advance. Read More

Music should be fun. If it isn't fun, why do it? Music is art, not machinery, and I believe lesson time should be the perfect blend of work and fun. It takes work to achieve new skill levels in music, but it takes joy, love and fun to make the work worth it! I help guide students to achieve new goals by encouraging and always pointing to the positive (because to me negative reinforcement just doesn't work). Read More

My lesson styles are geared towards the end goals of the students. As not all students will have the desire to become professional musicians, the ultimate goal is to build lifelong lovers of the arts...and if the student decides that music is a career, then the lessons are geared accordingly. For younger children, the ultimate goal is that their love of the music and instrument will spark their desire for practice and further learning, but that they ENJOY music as an art and experience first. My style is very relaxed and fun and I make the lessons very student focused. I do not believe in a 'monkey see monkey do' style where I simply show the student and have them repeat the concept or technique, but rather a discovery learning approach where I provide the needed support for the student to learn and apply the concepts. I also provide incentives such as rewards for practicing a certain number of hours a week. Read More

There is nothing better than seeing the face of a student light up when they grasp difficult concepts or sections of music. Positive reinforcement is the most important tool any teacher can have in their arsonal, and I try to praise my students every time I notice imporvements and support and assure them when confronted with difficulties. I set small goals, achievable goals for every lesson, so that my students can sense their progress in reaching their over-arching aspitations. Read More
