As a former certified school teacher my focus is on laying the right foundation for a lifetime of musical learning and enjoyment for the student. I want my students to develop skills in all aspects and styles of playing so that as their preferences progress they will be equipped for all genres and styles. For beginning students who are children, I like to start with Hal Leonard's Piano for Beginners. Progress will depend on the students' willingness to learn and practice as well as encouragement from their parents. For students who already have an understanding of basic fundamentals, I will assess their skill level and select music appropriate for their progression and level of play. I graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre. Over the past 5 years I have had 7 beginner piano students and 10 voice students of varying levels. I have taught ages 5-10 for piano and 11-20 for voice. I currently teach online via FaceTime/Zoom, am available to go to students homes or host them in my studio.
