Growing up, I always had the "teacher gene:" I was the little kid teaching all the other kids everything I knew. Tutoring came naturally, of course, and when I graduated high school, I gave after-class lessons at a school in all sorts of subjects. When I was in college, I started teaching voice and music theory in a volunteer program that helps high-school students from underserved communities. After taking a few vocal pedagogy and music education classes, I started taking on my own private students. Read More

Typically, I favor using traditional curriculum for beginning students (Alfred, Faber, Bastian). As a student progresses we typically incorporate Clemeneti sonatinas and the students favorite pop/modern songs. When a student achieves an advanced level of difficulty curriculum is purchased depending on the student's goals, college aspirations, and learning objectives. I typically administer a Classical Method of education, whether in private lessons or the classroom. It is my hope that time in my classroom encourages dialectic conversation and reaps gains in every learning situation. Read More

A multi-instrumentalist, Feef played every instrument on her last album, The Last of the Cartoon Vagabonds, with some assistance from drummers Jamie Douglass and Adam Steinberg, and mixer Matt Forger, chronicling the adventures of eccentrics and misfits in a world full of danger, intrigue and longing. Feef has performed in church sanctuaries, the subways of Boston, London, New York, and entertaining audiences in small Scottish, English and Irish pubs, major music venues across the West Coast, and in major concert halls in the UK. Music should be fun. Plain and simple thats why I believe and that is whats kept me pushing forward. Its not going to always be an easy experience learning new things but that does not mean it cannot be fun. I want my students to feel like they are more than enough to play this song or sing that song. I want my students to believe in themselves as much as I believe in them. Read More

I create a custom lesson plan for each student, as every voice is different, and everyone comes with a different set of goals in mind. Every student can expect to be asked what their goals are, whether they are just to have fun and sing, work towards competing in local competitions, or to audition for a choir or show, and lessons and repetoire will be based on those goals. Every student can also expect to do do basic vocal exercises at every lesson to warm up their voice, and to more effectively teach technique and gauge progress. Read More

The vocal technique I teach is applicable to all singing styles. There is a healthy way to use the voice without straining it, by learning how to control your breath, supporting your tone with your whole body and getting your voice in the right position. I meet my students wherever they are at. I adapt my lessons to the needs of the individual student. Everybody works differently, has different challenges and a different body. Read More
