I received my Masters Degree in Music with concentration in Classical Vocal Performance from New York University and my Bachelors in Music with concentration in Conducting from FAAM, a university located in So Paulo, where I was born and raised. With my new beginning students, who don’t have much experience, we start with the fundementals - singing posture, breathing, basic warm ups and their importance, music theory, and simple repertoire. For my more intermediate, advanced students, I will check to see where your fundementals are, and help you blossom from there. For voice, I focus on proper understanding of the body and its role in singing. I combine this with a breakdown of individual skills followed by performance practice. The combination of the 2 allows there to be an understanding of the correct technique and an immediate opportunity for application. This is accompanied with homework in the form of exercises and books.For violin and piano, it is a similar process. The classes are planned based on the individual's voice range. In general, classes begin with breathing techniques, followed by vocal warm-ups. Students at a beginner level will learn German lieder or Italian songs from the "24 Italian Songs and Arias" from the Schirmer's Publishing. As a member of the Juilliard Opera Center, Mr. L. appeared as the boxer Adam Ochsenschwanz in Ernst Krenek's Schwergewicht oder die Ehre der Nation under the baton of James Conlon, as Ford in Falstaff in a production by Stephen Wadsworth conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson, as Rambo in The Death of Klinghoffer under the baton of the composer, and as Raimbaud in Le comte Ory.
