My approach to teaching is rooted in a genuine love for music and a deep desire to help others understand and grow in their singing ability. If my student is preparing for a performance I love to help them with stage presence as well. It makes me so happy when I see the progression in my students abilities and the boost in confidence they have by simply knowing they can do what they have been working so hard to achieve. Read More

When it comes to the actual knitty-gritty of teaching music, I like to listen to what a student is interested in before putting together any kind of lesson plan. I have taught all ages from 4 - 98. I emphasize a well-balanced diet of classical, popular, sacred, and jazz. Students' preferences are always taken into consideration. In addition, I provide students with a solid theoretical foundation. Concentration is upon functional theory that is applicable to where the student is in their music studies. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity whether it be improvisation on 12 bar blues patterns or composing in an ABA form. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It is so important that each individual student progresses at his or her own ace. I encourage this progress by setting realistic and clear goals for my students at each lesson. When I acknowledge their accomplishments, it helps to fuel the desire to learn of the student and makes them eager to learn more. Once I find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction towards the wants and needs of my students. Read More
