For beginning students I suggest using the Suzuki Method, or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once each student is ready to move beyond the fundamentals, I find exercises and solos to best fit and improve their skill level for recital performances, competitions, strings class/orchestra, or other activities. Ive participated in a number of ensembles including the Agnes Scott Community Orchestra and multiple chamber ensembles. Once the fundamentals from those books have been understood, I will start the students on repertoire that is appropriate for their level. I was encouraged to tutor other classmates and friends who were having difficulty on the violin, as well as viola. My greatest accomplishment from tutoring was named, "Most Valuable Player" by my orchestra teacher my graduating year in 2019.
