My method of working with the voice is to first get a sense of what the student's goals are. These include both vocal goals and career/performance goals. We will then work together to form a plan to achieve them. At 18, I was hired by Wurlitzer to teach piano lessons to children in their homes where a piano had been rented. If the family bought the piano at the end of the term, I received a commission. After teaching many piano lessons I also sold two pianos. At NYU, I joined a dance company that performed lively dances at elementary schools, where they had me singing a call and response song with our young audiences. Read More

I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University and a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance from New England Conservatory. I like to work with students individually for their own goals and skill level. For younger students, we work on msuciality and basics of singing through devleopmentally appropriate (and fun!) songs. Regardless of the student's level, each lesson contains singing repertoire, vocal exercises to work on technique, and musicianship skills. The combination of these elements will depend entirely on the student's needs and desires! At the consultation lesson, I will provide a written assessment of where I see the student progressing and propose a plan to reach the students stated goals, focusing always on the process of individual development.
