I am an enthusiastic and compassionate instructor who loves to share my musical knowledge with those eager and willing to learn. I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University in 2018 and became a board-certified music therapist in January of 2019. With this degree and profession comes the knowledge and skillset of numerous instruments, including voice (my primary instrument), guitar, piano, and ukulele. It is of great importance to me that students receive an individualized teaching approach that is unique to his or her learning style. Read More

As I've said above, my teaching is curtailed to the individual needs of my students. I stress development as a complete musician, and that often includes breaking away from technique to discuss other ideas like music theory, ear training, etc. Most importantly, I can explain difficult concepts in many ways. I am a degreed educator, having studied various learning styles and philosophies. I incorporate techniques from Kodaly, Orff, Suzuki, Dalcroze, Alexander--- each student has different needs. I began teaching voice lessons in my first year at Susquehanna University. The range of students I received throughout my four years there provided me with numerous pedagogical challenges and valuable insights into the psychology of teaching one on one with students. Some of these students included singers with a strong musical theater backgrounds, young athletes wanting to be the front men of their budding rock bands, and students with vocal injuries so severe that they could do little more than speak. Instruments: Voice
Unique among any musical instrument, the voice is an indelible part of the human body and human experience, and as such there is no deeper or more fulfilling reward than using the voice to give the gift of music, passion, and artistic expression. But like playing any other musical instrument, vocalism requires constant practice, discipline and care to cultivate into an effective and healthful talent. By blending foundational techniques and triggering my students' unique musical passions, I strive to offer a learning experience that is as efficacious as it is enjoyable. Read More

My teaching style is based on love, patience, kindness and understanding. My priority is to create a safe space for students so that they can express themselves freely and authentically. The most important aspect is to make learning a fun, enjoyable and fulfilling process by understanding the student and listening to what they want to accomplish. In order to understand the student and make this session an enjoyable one, I always use this technique of knowing what type of learner I'm working with: We have four main types of learners: visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. 1.) Visual learning (music videos, movies, diagrams) 2.) Auditory learning (music, discussion, lectures) 3.) Reading and writing (making lists, reading poems, songwriting) 4.) Kinesthetic learning (movement, experiments, hands-on activities) Read More

To start, I like to get an idea of the skill level and music interests of the student by doing an introductory lesson. Then I teach music theory in a way that can be related to the style of music the student enjoys. I have created my own teaching method, which is taylored to each individual student. Several different books are used, depending on the style the student prefers. Read More
